"[W]herever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church." -Ignatius of Antioch (c. AD 100), Letter to the Smyrnaeans Ch. 8
Jesus singled out Peter for authority among his Twelve Disciples, bestowing upon him universal stewardship over the Church. This authority made Peter the earthly head of the Church and entitled Peter to settle disputes when they arose.
The typical Protestant Bible has 7 fewer books than Catholic Bibles. This is largely due to historical reasons relating to how the canon of Scripture was defined and what authorities Christians respected. Catholics adhere to the canon defined infallibly by the Church.
